........flu! And it is not man flu! And it has taken my voice. And I like to talk! So that is very annoying. But I am too tired to be annoyed too much.
And seeing as there is hardly any virtual RS on here to deliver me a nice hot meal, I need the virtual priesthood (all bad bits removed, have to write that even in a humorous post) to pick up the slack.

Awwww sweetie, can you pick up a half dozen oranges or even maybe small grapefruits to ease the suffering a bit? Drink your fluids, try clove tea if it isn't too strong for you. It's off to bed for you.

Make it nice and warm. Are you chilled or do you have much of a fever?

You would like a sincere prayer, we'll all be glad to contribute.

Ok, Mel...now that I have the meaning or conventional wisdom, of your catch phrase of "man flu" digested(complements of the Urban Dictionary) I caught your drift here..like Joey, hope you're doing better. Plenty of fluids and more rest normally helps out...along with some of the drinks mentioned. We may be distant, but we do have your '6' covered..

Hi t2, Actually thinking about it, that probably was not the best strategy, to be ''rude'' and then ask for male support. Good job you and Joey make allowances for me.

''covering your back. six comes from being behind a person (six o' clock position). so "watch my six" is "cover me from behind" '' letting someone know that you'll be around to help out or protect them in any way you can.''

Never heard this phrase before!
It's nice, thank you.

Green Tea is supposed to do good things for getting the immune system running.

:)

Happily, your fingers can't catch the flu.

So you can do like sign-language people do,
and use your hands to do the talking.

:-)

Hope you're getting better now.

Thank you poc, Thank you Abinadi.
I have japan sencha green tea leaves, apparently the key is not to use boiling water. I have high hopes for this.
And yes, fingers also to type. Glad for that.

:)

I've made ginger tea with lots of honey, and that seems to help - when I make it stronger than I like!
There's some kind of tea, I forgot the brand, that helps with sore throats. Whatever the brand is, the specific tea is called "throat sore" but mostly now I see "throat coat"; I don't know if they are the same thing. And rest as much as possible. WIth me, kind of strange to me, cola drinks help; I don't know why; someone said "It's the caffeine and the sugar." I don't know.

I'm sorry, but it seems so wrong for us to be offering Tea advice to a Brit. We Americans dump it in sea water and call it a deal. :P

Peace

not by me!

Hey, poc, you mean the Boston Tea Party? I never did understand that! About this time last year, the very first Home League meeting I went to at the SA, was on this theme. I arrived a bit late, only empty chair was right in front of the desk where the talk was being given and all the materials were. I had to walk in front of the lady to sit down. But I knew what that meant. This was not even a year ago, not long received my resignation letter, I was finding my feet in the church. I felt a bit safe sat right there at the front, I thought, Look God, I am here. I have not got a clue what they are talking about, but here I am! Anyway, seeing as you mention it, LOL

Abinadi, I AM drinking ginger tea! I have one that is made up in bags with tumeric, which you know is very healing.
I don't know that English people have a reputation for being versed in all these alternative teas, I am not sure. I mostly drink Rooibus, as the caffeine still does for me in regular tea, good ol' word of wisdom!

Anyhow, thank you for making my flu less of a lonely affair.

I did know this should always be in the chat section but I don't like to interfere with the profile of Joey's posts, which now means I have a little further post to make!

So who knows what to drink for chest infections? :(

Yellow flem (snot and nose-blow) fluids are generally bacterial and may benefit from antibiotics to heal faster.

Go and get checked by a competent physician, please.

Many of my posts are number one Google searches, no problem there!

I like Rooibus, too.
Haven't cared much for hibiscus.
I've heard licorice is good during colds or flus, to thin the blood. Don't know if that is true.

Chest infection:
Peppermint tea
Eucalyptus tea (from California, I like this one a lot)
Joey suggested a google search. I came up with this site:
http://naturalhomeremedies.info/natural-home-remedies-for-chest-infection/
I have to use an inhalant for asthma. I don't have asthma, at least I don't think I do, but my doctor prescribed this anyway. Yes, if you see a doctor, you might get faster relief. Sad that in "the west" so many useful medicines are prescription only. Certain other nations I've been in, I've been able to get quick treatment - the pharmacist knew as much as a doctor, and gave what was needed, without me having to go through a visit at a clinic first. Freedom is an aging dionsaur.

Post subject:  Making me smile

I have found a cure that helps......spending money on totally unnecessary things, and at the risk of appearing very girly, this is what I bought....a bright green pair of biker boots, Oh and Doc Martin are coming home, yay, insourcing now, a mustard yellow pair of plimsolls, a good old fashioned style jumper and a massive yellow rubber duck. Oh Well, made me smile. :-)
