Just reflecting today how blessed the person that baptized me must be. And, of course you too! Wow, that may have been the quaint day in time where everything Mormon became more threatened than the day before.

Speaking of baptisms, and I am willing to bet this has been brought up more than once somewhere here: They have a Do Not Contact list (though often ignored) and there is a name removal practice. But by gum they oughtta have a Do Not Necro-baptize list! Yes, I know according to their "theology" if someone is dead dunked he or she now has the choice to accept or decline the glories of the Mormon hereafter...but if I know right this minute that I consider it all hooey, which I do, I believe that I have the right not to allow them their proxy rite.

Pull-up depends help keep those older skid markings onto the holy garmies as a thing of the past. Klingon holdouts may still be a tricky issue though. Whoops, now I've ruined my snacktime break.

He is supposed to announce a "revelation" at General Conference.

Wonder if he'll have someone next to him whispering what to say next. "IsaydisinnanameofdysonJesusCwistamen"

Could soon end up being a no-show, then again, give him a Bluetooth ear piece and maybe an elevated wheelchair and let ol`Tommy boy rock the old gals.

Ouch, brings the pangs of guilt back to mind all over again, "true" or not! :(

Sorry, Grace; the only guilt, though, is the guilt you allow yourself to feel. You have the absolute right...the duty, in fact...to renounce and repudiate that guilt. "That was then, this is now" feelings may help you to toss it over your shoulder and reject it forever. Bless ya!

Thanks Julian 1066! :-D Guilt is hardest to overcome, for my LDS faith disappearing. Esp. for those I was close to for trying to rekindle it, 1 even labelling my church shopping as "committing adultery." Any tips for breaking free other than the most obvious 1 of avoiding frequent "guilt trippers?"

Surely.

First off, read "No Man Knows My History" and "One Nation Under Gods." When you have read these, and whatever responsible and scholarly books on the founding and history of the LDS church you can find, fully realize that you - just like me and just like everyone else - were duped into giving of your beliefs, your substance and your labours for the enrichment and benefit of a false organization. That in itself is ultimately liberating.

Then continue as you are doing. Fellowship and share with others who have come out. Learn from their experiences and come to the understanding that you are not alone, nor will you ever be.

Read your (real) scriptures daily and if you haven't already done so, link up with a religious organization that mirrors your own cherished beliefs. Let your minister, priest or other religious leader know your history and he or she will be delighted to help you approach God sincerely and joyfully.

Hope this is some help to you.

Do you know who wrote those books Julian1066? Thanks that is great advice. Of course, I'm church shopping w/ my husband & he's most comfortable w/ Protestantism because that's how he was raised. According to a quiz I took online, they said my beliefs most closely matched "Unitarian" but when we went my husband & I were concerned w/ their pagan group. We both want Christian but there's comfortable traditions of his & political ideologies of mine that interfere. The only thing we agree on is our musical tastes. {:-D

Ha ha, committing church adultery! But Mormonism is not the cross-dressing gender it thinks itself to be.

Cross-dressed LDS Church, I may have just done it again.
Get it? No crucifix allowed anywhere, funny.

Martin Luther would chuckle on that one!

Well, it wasn't funny at all because she was publicly accusing me of that on FB right in front of my husband & our 200 friends daily for a whole year after he finally joined FB, & he was taking it the  wrong way because he dumped his ex because she cheated on him. Which is why I closed my FB account & sent her a postcard asking her not to contact me ever again & threatening to sue her for harassment. Really her LDS devotion was excessive & truly disruptive to the positive life I'm trying to create now. :(

So, I'm hoping getting my name removed will convince "true believers" like her that I'm not "committing adultery" since I'm "divorced from LDS." {:-D

Fawn Brodie is the author of No Man Knows My History
Richard Abanes wrote One Nation Under Gods.
Both are eye openers.
Yes, the Unitarians have CUUPS, a pagan special interest group and if
you want no connection real or perceived with Paganism (I am not offended,
really LOL!) keep looking around. I have attended Episcopal services and
they are pretty cool. Like Catholicism but without authoritarianism. Very
laid back and accepting plus the liturgy is genuinely old...and moving.

Probably for those seeking a replacement religion of one kind or another, the actual lack of a religious agenda(in UU involvement orparticipation) there throws or blows some potential members away...its so loose there is no agenda. what ever you believe is supposed to be ok...and some people can't handle that way of doing business...they need more structure to hang in there with..and when they find its not there for them, they leave too...

True! I'm not against pagans meeting here in this forum, but really I have trouble affiliating w/ them in a setting I'm supposed to be worshipping in.

Who said anything about pagans or worshipping in any particullr way?..if we stick to facts, and leave god out of the threads here, issues seem to be resolved much quickerand simpler..same with the healing process.

If I get necro-dunked into the most conceivably crazy and backwards ass, completely proven fake as a Nauvoo three dollar bill corporate church. (skipthatlastpart) Then and only then Utah's happy again?
