Jane:
"You've been drinking a lot of Rye whiskey with TANG again, haven't you Richard."
Rich:
"Um. Not without food Jane."
Rich:
"I put an olive in each drink!"
Rich:
My new concoction is called: "Take Me To The Moon"; but, sometimes I call it: "To the Moon Alice."
Jane: "Your kidney function is down to 4 %."
Jane:
"It looks like I'll be going to a funeral soon."
(sigh)

You know, that conversation got me thinking: "Let's add LDS (Mormon) Cheesy Funeral Potatoes to our 4th FHE Lesson in the series: Joseph Smith and the Treasure Guardian: http://richkelsey.org/lds_fhe_lesson_4.html
Which I did this morning.
Like the Kool-Aid in a previous lesson: with & without sugar.
And like the Jell-O in a previous lesson: with & without bananas & whipped topping.
The Funeral Potatoes are presented with & without ham. The ham representing early accounts of the, angel / treasure guardian, who was guarding the golden plates.

The question is: "Who likes their potatoes better without ham?"

My next FHE Lesson, lesson 6, will have a TANG drink.

For those of us who are interested.

History of TANG in outer-space:
"Sales of Tang were poor until NASA used it on John Glenn's Mercury flight in February 1962, and subsequent Gemini missions. Since then, it was closely associated with the U.S. manned spaceflight program... — Wikipedia

More trivia:
How many of us are aware that the original name for the lunar module was "Alice" not "Eagle." That name was given to the lunar module based upon Jackie Gleason saying, "to the moon Alice" on the TV series, "The Honeymooners." NASA changed the name of the lunar module over concerns that a man hitting his wife so hard that she ends up landing on the moon may not be the way man's first Moon landing should be represented. Much later, in 2017, Rich Kelsey named a drink "to the moon Alice" to commemorate America's space program.

Hello board!

I really want to do another FHE lesson, lesson 6 with a TANG drink. No whiskey. We need to keep the lesson family friendly, yet, how about this: TANG, mixed normally but with either a green or a black olive in it. The olive representing Joseph's seer stone.

The moral of the story being how many of us readers would rather not have the olive in the drink because, sometimes the truth is hard to swallow. Kool-Aid with an olive in it is also a possible beverage of choice. I like the idea of the family tossing the olive & drinking in the Kool-Aid. The symbolism is just too amusing.

And, for those of us who care: No, I have not started drinking. And, my kidneys are just fine: In fact I did just have a blood test for kidney function & my doctor e-mailed me with the words "Great!" to describe the blood test results across the board.

I'm just having fun.

Hello Rich!

Would you like a chocolate brownie?
My wife just baked them, still warm, fresh from the oven. Nuts on the top, chocolate chunks mixed in and only a tiny bit of cat poop fell in.
Still want one?
It was baked so it should be fine. Worms, germs and all that stuff... cooked.
Sure you don't want one?

Or

Maybe someone who drinks cough medicine because cough medicine is allowed but a shot of alcohol isn't.

Peace

Hi productofchoice.
The name of the new FHE lesson is,
Lesson Six: Maintaining a Strong Testimony of the LDS Church Through Faithful History http://richkelsey.org/lds_family_home_e ... _book.html

I've settled on Cherry Kool-Aid with an extra large black olive in it, representing Joseph Smith's seer stone. I have a can of "PEARLS" extra large olives which I bought at Costco a week ago; and, a decent goblet. I need to grab some Kool-Aid next time I go to the store and then do a photo shoot.

The moral of the lesson: Mormons have a choice, they can either swallow the Church's latest admission about Joseph Smith using a seer stone, or, toss it.

Remember the LDS Elders who visited me several times in the summer of 2014. They tossed every LDS statement we looked up about Smith using a seer stone and stuck with, what to them was, faithful history.

They put the cat back in the bag; by doing so their lives were much more comfortable. Imagine a world where Joseph Smith saw buried treasure while looking in a magic stone? No. Not going to happen. Thousand points of light.

Bit off topic perhaps but you know your page where you write about when you spoke the Name of Jesus that night years back.

Well a couple of weeks back I went to a conference about the Name of Jesus, the speakers spoke all day expounding so much and interspersed with great worship times.

Rich's testimony I thought to myself. The Light of the World.

Hi Melanie.
You are so kind.
The name of Jesus. I love that name.
I understand nobody called him that when he walked this earth.
Yet, it was the English name Jesus, not Greek or Hebrew, that was given to me from above when I was desperately in need of deliverance. What's more interesting: At that point in time I didn't even believe in Jesus.
For those of us who are interested you can read about my story here:
http://richkelsey.org/my_near_death_experience.htm

And Yea: I did a word study on the Apostles using his name in the New Testament. There is power in the name of Jesus.

As far as the opening topic of this thread: I'm still working on the sixth FHE lesson in my series. Last night I changed the beverage we will have in the lesson from Cherry Kool-Aid to Lemon-Lime. Near the end of the article, I have a great photo of a clear goblet with a black olive in it. Yet, as of this moment the work is unpublished. I hope to publish it within 5 days.
However, if you put http://richkelsey.org/img118.jpg into your address bar and hit ENTER, you can view the image of the goblet.
God bless you.

Hello board:
I just published the sixth FHE lesson in my series: http://richkelsey.org/lds_fhe_lesson6.html
It may be rough?
It may not be complete yet?
Normally I end up adding to & polishing articles long after they first get published.
Was I too hard on the Elders with my final statement?
Perhaps. Was I mean. No. I am just being honest.
If they (the Elders) come by I have some Kool-Aid to offer them.
Who knows, someday they may come around?
And, by that I mean: they may have had a change of heart.

I have a comment on my new article from an author friend of mine:

Rich,

I absolutely loved it!

At first I was thinking "Rich, you should probably let the reader understand more that this was done in humor in the beginning" but as I kept reading I could see that it was perfect as it is. I would not have laughed as hard seeing the Kool-Aid smiley container if you had notified me ahead of time, and same thing with the ending, I loved it and cracked up again at the pictorial lesson one is left with in swallowing the olive!

It is a great article and I'm sure many will really like it. I love your creativity and humor without being biting at all, just true! — Al
