I removed some LDS scripture and other accepted LDS quotes on Martin Harris from one of my articles because the quotes made my article seem spiteful.

However, the material is noteworthy because it describes Martin Harris the way he was viewed in early LDS Church history. I really tried to tone down the spiteful nature of this web-page by adding some light hearted comments such as "Martin Harris could be remembered as..." Yet, the LDS quotes are just plain mean; and, there is no way to make them less vicious. If one looks at my comments between quotes; nothing I say is mean. I even kept out two trusted quotes about Harris being a wife beater.

One reason I am publishing this compilation of Harris quotes is to show forth the truth about how Harris was treated by Joseph Smith and the early church. It could be an eye opener to some; as the whitewash is missing and the sugarcoating has yet to be applied: http://richkelsey.org/trouble_with_martin_harris.html

What is my opinion on Harris? In 1829 he claimed "that all persons who did not embrace Mormonism in two years would be stricken off the face of the earth." Based on that quote alone, I believe the man was delusional. One thing is certain: the D&C calls Harris a "wicked man." And, it was because of Martin and Lucy Harris that the plates of Nephi had to be included with plates of Lehi:
Quote:
(Verse) 38 And now, verily I say unto you, that an account of those things that you have written, which have gone out of your hands, is engraven upon the plates of Nephi;
(Verse) 39 Yea, and you remember it was said in those writings that a more particular account was given of these things upon the plates of Nephi.
(Verse) 40 And now, because the account which is engraven upon the plates of Nephi is more particular concerning the things which, in my wisdom, I would bring to the knowledge of the people in this account—
(Verse) 41 Therefore, you shall translate the engravings which are on the plates of Nephi, down even till you come to the reign of king Benjamin, or until you come to that which you have translated, which you have retained;” (Doctrine and Covenants 10:32-41).

productofchoice,

Thanks, I'll see if there is anything I should to add to my web-page
